Welcome to the first monthly issue of Maverick Magazine! We hope you enjoy the changes about to unfold and embrace and support the magazine as it continues to grow. In this issue we see the men of country music come into their own. Brantley Gilbert, Chris Young and Toby Keith all have pride of place this month. Often deemed a predominantly male scene, especially in regards to radio play in America, the men tend to get all of the attention when it comes to country music. That was justified in recent weeks at the CMA Awards, when Chris Stapleton won three awards including Male Vocalist Of The Year, New Artist Of The Year and Album Of The Year for TRAVELLER. Coming in close with the second most wins was Little Big Town, our cover group for this issue. Winning two awards with Vocal Group Of The Year and Single Of The Year for Girl Crush, Little Big Town had a fantastic time at the CMA’s this year, and what an acheivement it was considering they’ve now won the former four years in a row! At Maverick we’re always very committed to featuring some of these big time artists, alongside the smaller acts and the renowned legends. We take pride in being the stepping stone to bigger audiences, the platform that enables those who struggle to get their name heard above the noise, to really build themselves a career, and we often find ourselves on that journey with them. It’s great to see a legend like Robert Cray in this issue alongside an up-and-coming band like The Self Help Group. With the magazine increasing in frequency, there will be more opportunities for this than ever before, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you all.
